What's The History Behind the Detroit Mess? Read Richard A. Wright's "First 100 Years of the Auto Industry in the U.S."

About a dozen years ago, around the same time that The Auto Channel first went online, Richard A. Wright presented a study of the American auto industry in his "A Brief History of the First 100 Years of the Automobile Industry in the United States." We were lucky enough to be allowed to serialize the book and have, of course, kept it available for all Internet users. While Richard's tome may not provide a road map to a possible Detroit resurrection, it does offer a fascinating insight into how and why things are the way they are today.

We hope you enjoy this visit to TACH's archives and remember that it was written several years ago when a different set of key players ruled (some of) the roost. We've also included some links to relevant videos.
