West Coast's Biggest RV Show Kicks Off in May; Offers Consumers the Best Vacation Value for Their Money RVing Remains One of the Most Economical Vacation Options Despite Turbulent Economy; Up to 61 Percent Cheaper Than Other Types of Vacations

PLEASANTON, CA Jan 21, 2009; The 21st Annual RV Manufacturers Show will roar into Pleasanton on May 15, offering customers the best deals available on a wide variety of recreational vehicles, organizers announced today.

RVs remain the cheapest ways to vacation. A recent study for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association showed that typical family RV camping vacations are 27 to 61 percent less expensive on a per-day basis than other types of vacations.

The show's organizers recognize that people are looking to spend their money wisely. They are busy making preparations for a May show that will give consumers the most bang for their buck.

"RVs still represent the cheapest vacation," said show manager Shawn Nohr of Good Times Promotions, which oversees the 10-day show. "Recognizing the budget challenges our attendees face, we wanted to offer some relief as well."

The size of the May event allows organizers to reduce their overhead cost and offer consumers deals they won't find anywhere else on RVs that range from outdoorsy tent trailers to luxurious land yachts. The brands include Airstream, Monaco Coach and Winnebago.

The event features hundreds of RVs and has grown to be the largest of its kind on the West Coast. It's so big that organizer Michael Nohr purchased a 175,000 square-foot, $10 million tent to showcase them under. Having so many options in one place offers consumers more for their money and time-saving convenience.

"As we were putting this event together, we kept saying, 'We're gonna need a bigger tent,'" Nohr said.

Cost: Adults $10; seniors (62+) $8, children 13-17 $5; children 12 and under free. Special "Senior Wednesday 2 for 1." Held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds: 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton. Mon - Fri 11am - 7pm, Sat & Sun 10am - 7pm. Last Sunday 10am - 6pm. For more information, call the Show Hotline at (925) 931-1890 or visit www.rvshow.net.
