SLOUGH, United Kingdom – February 2, 2009: Odyssey Systems has just invested in a fleet of new Citroën Nemo LX 1.4HDi vans as part of an on-going process to reduce its carbon footprint and improve business efficiency. The fast growing Stockton on Tees-based telecommunications supplier specified Nemo vans after its research showed that this innovative van offered the optimum combination of environmental, financial and operational benefits.

Mike Odysseas, Odyssey Systems’ managing director, comments, “When we replaced our van fleet we were determined to maintain our company commitment to green efficiency. In this respect the Citroën Nemo ticked all the boxes, with exceptionally good fuel consumption, very low 119g/km emissions and competitive first cost. In addition it also offers good driver comfort and safety, the ability to run on up to 30 per cent bio-diesel and is compact, which makes for good in-town manoeuvrability.”

Supplied by Advanced Vehicles, Stockton on Tees, Odyssey Systems’ seven Nemos are finished in arctic steel metallic paint and have been specified with air conditioning, Trafficmaster satellite navigation and Bluetooth mobile phone connection equipment. The new vans are also equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including backup generators to enable clients’ telecommunications systems to remain operational during a power cut. Allocated to the company’s installation/service engineers, the Nemos will have a service life of thee years during which time they will cover up to 150,000 miles.

”With the new Nemo vans we will improve our fleet fuel consumption by 25 per cent and reduce CO2 emissions by many tonnes a year. In addition the Nemo’s standard-fit trip computer will enable in-house analysis and monitoring of fuel consumption to ensure that our drivers are achieving the best possible economy,” adds Mr Odysseas.

Since its launch the Citroën Nemo has been on a winning streak. It has been voted International Van of the Year 2009, What Van? Van of the year, What Van? Light van of the year, Fleet Van Awards Best City Van, the UK’s most economical van (84.09mpg) and Van Fleet World Best New Van of the Year.

Established 21 years ago Odyssey Systems offers its customers a wide range of telecommunications services, including ultra-competitive telecommunications tariffs. The company is environmentally conscious and implemented many green initiatives, including printing customers' bills using eco-friendly printers and recycling the heat generated from this process to heat the company's offices.
