SLOUGH, United Kingdom – February 16, 2009: Citroën has teamed up with The Sun newspaper in a national campaign to search for Britain’s Best Brekkie. The company is asking Britain’s army of LCV drivers to nominate their favourite breakfast hotspot and stand a chance of winning a new Berlingo van.

The competition will be launched on the 20th of February with a four-page pullout feature in The Sun newspaper. At the same time, Citroën/Sun Britain’s Best Brekkie posters will be sent out for display in 2,500 cafes throughout the UK. The competition continues until the 13th of March, with regular coverage in The Sun. The lucky winner will receive their new Berlingo van in the week commencing the 30th of March with The Sun girls and Citroën’s Robert Handyside presenting the keys at the winning café.

Robert Handyside, Citroën’s commercial vehicle operations manager, comments, “There are thousands of hard-working van drivers who know what makes a great breakfast. We know what it takes to make a good van and we are offering the chance to win a fantastic new Berlingo in our competition to find the café serving the Britain’s Best Brekkie in 2009. The winning café will get the prestigious Citroën Sun plaque and £1,000.”

Citroën’s Road Show programme will also be visiting major B&Q stores across the UK throughout the Britain’s Best Brekkie competition period (please see dates and locations attached). Here, drivers will have the chance to inspect the latest Citroën LCVs. They can also have a free breakfast on Citroën, thanks to a mobile catering unit being towed by a Citroën vehicle accompanying the Road Show. Visitors to these Citroën Road Shows are also entered in the competition to win a new Berlingo van. The Citroën Road Show programme will be widely publicised on local radio stations across the UK, with invitations to attend.

“When times are tough, you can rely on Citroën to be sunny side up, sizzling with new ideas to bring home the bacon. We believe that the Britain’s Best Brekkie competition, together with our Road Show programme and free breakfasts for all, will combine fun and financial benefit for the lucky winner of the new Berlingo,” Robert Handyside concludes.
