Mazda Reports March 2009 Sales

IRVINE, Calif., April 1, 2009: Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported March 2009 sales of 21,974, down 33.3 percent versus last year (down 30.6 percent on a DSR basis), and year-to-date sales of 53,795, down 30.8 percent.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) celebrated its best-ever March with sales of 1,618 vehicles, up seven percent versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, MMdM reported 5,335 total sales, accounting for a six percent increase versus last year. Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) reported March sales of 7,060 units, down 22 percent compared to March 2008.

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City; and in Puerto Rico by Mazda de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
