Top 10 PV Makers Sell 909,700 Cars In Q1

Shanghai, April 10, 2009: (Gasgoo.com) Sales of China's domestically made passenger vehicles reached 1.42 million units in the first quarter of 2009, state media reported on Friday.

Shanghai Volkswagen Group was the top seller with 134,000 sedans sold, followed by FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors, with 131,100 and 106,800 units sold respectively, Xinhua said, citing the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The top 10 car-makers sold a total of 909,700 vehicles from January through March 2009, accounting for 64 percent of total passenger vehicle sales of the period.

The top 10 sedan brands in the first quarter were F3, Excelle, Elantra Yuedong, Jetta, QQ, Santana, Elantra, Xiali, Accord and Corolla.

Sales of China's top 10 sedan brands in the first quarter totaled 416,900 vehicles, accounting for 29 percent of the sedan sales total.
