BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – April 20, 2009: Ford of Britain and British Car Auctions (BCA) launched the new Ford Fiesta and new Ford Ka onto the used car market in a special sale staged at BCA Nottingham this month with excellent results for the new Ford superminis. All 15 new Fiestas were sold for an average of 85 per cent of cost new and Ka sold for an average of 80 per cent of cost new.

The Ford Closed Auction at Nottingham offered 250 vehicles comprising 50 light commercials and 200 cars including 15 new Fiestas and two Kas. More than 103 franchised dealers and approved buyers attended the event, with a further 53 bidding over the internet.

Highlights of the sale were:

  • Fiesta 1.4 Titanium 3dr petrol - £11,400 (87% cost new)
  • Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S petrol - £11,650 (86% cost new)
  • Fiesta 1.4 Titanium 5dr petrol - £12,200 (87% cost new)
  • Fiesta 1.4 TDCi Zetec 5dr - £11,500 (88% cost new)
  • Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Econetic - £11,150 (83% cost new)
  • Ka 1.2 Style petrol - £7,600 (88% cost new)

Jon Wellsman, sales director, Ford of Britain said: "The prices we achieved were our best result at a first-time launch action, reflecting the quality and style of the new Fiesta. We were hoping for around 75 per cent and so the results exceeded our expectations and confirmed that we have a desirable small-car line up.

"The used market has changed dramatically over recent months and I think some customers question leaving money in the bank on low interest when they can get a new or used car."

BCA’s Ford Account Manager, Alan Gupwell added: "This high profile event marked a very successful launch for new Fiesta and Ka, and in the current economic climate sends a significant message to the market place about the strength of the Ford brand.”
