PARIS, FRANCE – April 27, 2009: “Have a pleasant journey!” Between now and June 7, Renault is inviting the public to experience the latest technological innovations shipping with its new vehicles. Visitors will be able to:

  • experience high-quality sound using a demonstrator in the form of a bell, and test its efficiency inside the vehicles on show;
  • try out Carminat TomTom, an onboard navigation system selling for under €500, on a dashboard demonstrator;
  • discover the 4Control four-wheel steer chassis, premiered on Renault Laguna GT (in April 2008) and available on Renault Laguna Coupé since October 2008;
  • watch virtual animation videos to see how the vehicles of the future could interact with drivers to increase comfort and safety. Studies are looking at two possibilities: a system that anticipates dangers on the road, and a warning system that suggests corrective action;
  • touch the materials of the future, designed to show greater respect for the environment.

    From remote-controlled central locking developed in the 1980s through to keyless entry, Renault has always been at the leading edge of useful technology available to the greatest number. With the launch of New Renault Clio, Renault Grand Scénic and Laguna Coupé, Renault is continuing to deliver “useful” innovation with “high-end” onboard technologies, such as the sound or onboard navigation system on New Clio and New Scenic, and a chassis setting new standards of dynamic performance on New Laguna.

    High-quality sound
    To achieve optimal acoustic quality, Renault has formed a partnership with Arkamys, a company with expertise in digital sound processing. The Arkamys process uses customized digital sound processing software housed directly in the car radio to create a sound of clearly superior quality on the audio system. For its executive offering, Renault has chosen the expertise of Bose. The Bose Sound System is made up of ten loudspeakers equipped with neodymium magnets, a Bose digital amplifier with digital signal processing and six channels of customized equalization. It delivers impressive musical clarity and power.

    An onboard navigation system at under €500 – the cheapest on the market
    Sales of onboard navigation systems have boomed over the past five years. A navigation system is considered as a “must”, an accessory greatly appreciated by consumers. Renault aims to pioneer the wide availability of fully integrated navigation systems with its partner TomTom. To this end, New Clio and New Grand Scénic are available with Carminat Tom Tom, an integrated navigation system fitted as standard for under €500.

    4Control, the four-wheel steer chassis
    This technology, which was developed jointly by Renault and Renault Sport Technologies, sets new standards in handling, performance and sharp steering for the ultimate in driving pleasure.

    Technologies and materials of the future
    Renault has eleven vehicles claiming the maximum 5 stars in EuroNCAP crash tests. This uniqueexpertise places it one-step ahead of most of its competitors. Using virtual animation videos, the exhibition focuses on two areas of study on the subject of how vehicles of the future could interact with drivers to improve driving comfort and safety: a system that anticipates dangers on the road, and a warning system that suggests corrective action. Renault also sets the standard in environmental protection. Sixty percent of vehicles in the range carry the Renault éco2 label. Already more than 95% recyclable, the vehicles in the Renault range will soon be designed with materials primarily from the plant world. The exhibition includes a few examples of the materials of the future, developed to improve everyday life through their properties and to show greater respect for the environment.
