SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM – April 27, 2009: Company car drivers choosing Fiat’s most popular models are set to benefit from changes announced in the Budget that reward low emissions vehicles with reduced Vehicle Excise Duty.

The reforms, announced last week by Chancellor Alistair Darling, mean that vehicles emitting between 101g/km and 140g/km CO2 (in Bands B-E) will see a reduction in their road tax from next year. This means lower whole life costs for fleet managers and a keener monthly rental for user choosers.

Seven of Fiat’s nine-strong model range has variants that will satisfy these requirements, including the new convertible 500 C, which – in 1.3 MultiJet diesel guise – will attract an annual road tax bill of just £20. Other models to benefit will include Panda, 500, Grande Punto, Qubo, Bravo and Doblo.

Additionally, drivers who opt for new Fiats with CO2 emissions of 130g/km or less (Bands A-D) will pay no VED at all during the first year of ownership. This will also be introduced in 2010.

James McMenamin, National Sales Manager for Fiat Group Corporate Sales, says: “We have a total of 38 sub-140g/km CO2 models that will benefit from the introduction of these new VED rates next year.

“This, combined with impressive fuel economy from our cutting-edge engine technology and our innovative eco:Drive system, makes a compelling case for drivers and fleet managers alike to choose our vehicles.”
