Hybrid Truck ‘Convoy’ Comes to Capitol Hill

What:

Hybrid on The Hill Day includes an impressive all-day technology showcase of 17 medium- and heavy-duty hybrids, plus a morning briefing on the status of hybrid technology.

-- The showcase highlights hybrid progress in trucks – America’s biggest fuel users.
-- The briefing outlines the hybrid truck industry status, its benefits in reducing emissions, cutting fuel use and creating high tech jobs, and what it needs to succeed.
-- Duke University will unveil a report on the growth and value of the hybrid truck sector.
-- Major truck and system supplier experts will take part.

Context:

In the midst of the economic downturn, American truck and system makers are poised for a break-through in producing hybrid technology, leading to reduced fuel use and emissions and creating “green tech” jobs. But to succeed the industry needs support to help fleets purchase efficient trucks and a long term program to grow the technology.
