HERNDON, VA - September 11, 2009: Audi called for an end to uninspired, restrained use of electricity yesterday when they broke a new advertising and PR campaign to announce that they have an "electrical" surprise up their sleeves at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to the Audi press release, "This vital force of nature has been suppressed and underutilized for too long. What was once seen as the mother of all natural forces has been dumbed down. Wussified. Constricted."

"Electricity is fierce and powerful. It can split a tree in half and ignite a forest fire. It is feared and revered. And we run for cover when it gets too close."

So what will the surprise be? One rumor circulating around the Internet is that it's an electric version of the Audi R8 supercar. Coming on the heels of a big story about Johan de Nysschen's recent knock of the Chevrolet Volt, it would be a big surprise, indeed. It would also put a charge in marketplace competition against Tesla and the forthcoming Fisker.

The press release continued, "Without question, electric current transformed and shaped civilization -- bringing light to the darkest corners of the planet. Making communications instantaneous. Sparing humans the most tedious of tasks. And yet, for all of its transformative might, electricity rarely gets to live up to its full potential. It sits innocently in a toothbrush or toaster. It powers golf carts and gaming consoles. Even light bulbs now twist it into relative timidity."

"It's time to loosen mankind's grip on electricity, to stop holding it back. Therefore, on September 15, 2009, Audi will begin to do just that so electricity will finally get the chance to run wild and free and completely untamed."
