Nissan Aims to Cut Electric-Car Cost

--Nissan Motor Co. Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn said the Japanese auto maker intends to overcome the high cost of making advanced batteries and make its all-electric cars price-competitive even without government subsidies. Mr. Ghosn gave a timeframe of around three years for the cost-cutting effort, though he said the price of oil would play a large role in determining the effort's success.

County judge rules in electric vehicle owners' favor

--Oklahomans who have purchased, or intend to purchase, low-speed electric vehicles will get a tax credit from the Oklahoma State Tax Commission. District Judge Dennis Hladik issued a two-page ruling stating the plaintiffs who sought an emergency restraining order against the commission will receive the tax credit for purchases of low-speed electric vehicles.

Of the total, 7,000 cars will go to 2AM Group of the U.S., while MVP EV Group and EVI Group, also from the U.S., will take 5,000 each. RLM Group of Canada will also take 5,000. Japan's Nippon Automobile Fair Certificate Association will buy 3,000. GAEA Motors will buy 1,000 cars, and 2,000 will be shipped to a Taiwanese buyer.
