MURRAY HILL, NJ - November 25, 2009: Californians who want to find out how some green fueling options are cleaning our environment and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels can visit the San Francisco International Auto Show to learn more about the technology from Linde North America that’s making it happen.

The show runs from November 26 to December 2 in the Moscone Center. Linde’s presence is courtesy of AAA Northern California. The company’s technology will be featured in the AAA Greenlight Showcase, which is displaying new, environmentally friendly automotive technologies. Linde North America is a member of The Linde Group, one of the world’s largest hydrogen energy producers and a leader in developing alternative fuel technologies.

“Filling up the tank in California has gotten cleaner and greener in recent months,” said Mike Beckman, vice president, alternative energy, Linde.

The fuel is produced at a plant Linde built in Livermore, in partnership with Waste Management, to capture energy from decomposing garbage at their Altamont landfill. And at San Francisco International Airport, Linde is building a hydrogen fuelling station that will begin operating in 2010 to fuel a fleet of SFO’s shuttle buses as well as fuel cell vehicles.

Show attendees can see more information on both projects, view a hydrogen dispenser, and get details on how other alternative energy technologies from Linde are benefitting state residents by visiting AAA’s booth #1083.

“Linde believes alternative energy technologies such as hydrogen and biogas will clean our environment, boost energy diversity, and spur economic growth. But we need to make it easy for average citizens to take advantage of these alternative fuels,” Beckman said.

“We partner with public and private organizations, such as AAA, vehicle manufacturers and government agencies to raise awareness and acceptance of alternative fuels and to create a supportive infrastructure,” Beckman said.

Linde is participating in the AAA booth along with the California Fuel Cell Partnership, of which Linde is an associate member. The CaFCP is a public-private collaboration of organizations including auto manufacturers, energy providers, fuel cell technology companies and government agencies working together to promote the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles.

The Linde Group is a world leading gases and engineering company with almost 50,000 employees working in around 100 countries worldwide.
