Las Vegas February 24, 2010; For years, my wife Kathy and I have been NASCAR fans…semi-fanatics for Mark Martin! We’ve attended about 7 races over the years at Infineon (Sears Point) and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Countless Sundays have been spent following the circuit from Talladega to Martinsville, Infineon to Watkins Glen. We’ve experienced extended rain delays, mega-crashes, holes in the track pavement, tires that wore out prematurely, restrictor plates, green-white-checker finishes and more. Each race brought with it something special!

Aside from our family room, we sat in private boxes, bleachers, lawn chairs and now at last, our motor home at the track.

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has provided a unique spectator opportunity, Motorhome Hill. The entire viewing area outside the track for the length of the backstraight is elevated and equipped with about 100 fully equipped RV camping sites. And I do mean equipped! Electricity, water, sewer, phone and cable TV hookups mated to an incomparable view of the track. There are hundreds of dry camping parking spots at LVMS, but Motorhome Hill provides the ultimate in decadent spectatorship!

So on Monday, Kathy and I parked our 2005 Itasca Meridien atop Motorhome Hill in anticipation of this week’s NASCAR races. Loaded with our favorite beverages, snacks, tail gating paraphernalia, and more ‘stuff’ than imaginable, we’re ready to experience the very best in big league racing celebration.

The weather is not expected to cooperate with rain forecasted for Friday and Saturday but our family (there will be 6 of us!) is ready. Kathy will also celebrate her birthday at the track and hopefully snuggle up to Mark Martin somewhere along the way. This weekend will also be the NASCAR darling, Danica Patrick’s third race and we’re hoping that she moves up to the top half of finishers.

So stay tuned as we share our experiences perched atop Motorhome Hill!
