DARTFORD, UNITED KINGDOM – May 17, 2010: Mazda has given its award-winning Mazda6 a meticulous and extensive refresh, enhancing its dynamic visual presence, boosting driver convenience and comfort features, as well as improving economy and lowering emissions.

On sale now and priced from £16,995 to £23,445 on the road, the Upgraded Mazda6 is perfectly poised to retain its position as the most athletic, engaging and stylish hatchback and estate in the fiercely competitive family car sector.

The upgraded Mazda6 is immediately distinguishable by its restyled front and rear - it now features Mazda’s distinctive new family face complete with restyled silver-backed headlamps and fog lamp bezels for a dynamic and incisive visage. Similarly, the rear of both hatch and estate features striking new taillights.

These exterior changes are complemented by stylistic enhancements and equipment upgrades to the cabin. Inside, Mazda’s designers have introduced new silver ringed dials and controls in the driver’s instrument binnacle, while the centre console and steering wheel spokes are finished in high-gloss piano-black trim. The sweeping dashboard also receives a softer and more tactile casing for a heightened sense of quality.

The Mazda6’s four familiar equipment levels – S, TS, TS2 and Sport – all deliver class-leading levels of standard safety and convenience equipment. Upgraded equipment for the new upgraded Mazda6 encompasses ‘smart’ turn indicators and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) for all models, while models further up the range benefit from a new aerodynamic rear spoiler, front and rear parking sensors, Hill Hold Assist and active Bi-Xenon AFS front lights.

The new Mazda6 range comes with choice of six engines – three petrol and three turbo diesel powerplants, available with five and six-speed manual transmissions or five-speed automatic gearboxes. The petrol engine line-up comprises the 120ps MZR 1.8-litre, the new MZR DISI 155ps 2.0-litre and the punchy 170ps MZR 2.5-litre performance flagship, while the diesel range comprises three variants of Mazda’s acclaimed MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo-charged unit that deliver 129ps, 163ps and 180ps.

All powerplants have been tuned to deliver better economy and lower emissions, delivering exceptionally competitive CO2 emission levels from just 138g/km and combined economy of up to 54.3mpg. Across the range, the diesel engines are now 4.1 percent more economical and benefit from a 4.8 percent drop in average CO2 emission levels. The petrol powerplants enjoy similar gains, with a 3.2 percent average increase in fuel economy and a 4.4 percent drop in average CO2 emissions.

The Mazda6’s award-winning dynamism and athleticism has been further enhanced by an extensive raft of upgrades to the car’s steering and suspension. The electrically assisted steering has been retuned for greater accuracy and feedback, while the double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension layouts now feature uprated dampers and have been fine-tuned to deliver improved handling stability and ride comfort.

Its bold new styling, extensive range of clean and fuel-efficient petrol and turbo-diesel engines, higher levels of standard safety and luxury features and enhanced driving dynamics, the refreshed Mazda6 is ideally positioned to deliver exceptional value for money for private and corporate buyers alike.
