SYDNEY – June 14, 2010: Hyundai Motor Company Australia will bring the thrills and passion of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to Sydney Harbour with the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest, to be held at iconic Darling Harbour from 11th June to 12th July, 2010.

Sydney, along with nine South African cities and five other cities across the planet will be the host to FIFA’s official public viewing events for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest™ will enable football fans to come together and watch FIFA World Cup™ matches, join in the fun and excitement, have a chance to win fantastic prizes and cheer on the Socceroos as they take on the best in the world.

Hyundai will keep the ball rolling throughout the entire 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament with a program of activities based around the Darling Harbour precinct. A four metre diameter ‘Hyundai Goodwill Ball’ will be on display, as well as the new i45 mid-sized sedan next to the ‘Hyundai Floating Pitch’. These Hyundai structures will compliment the three giant screens in Cockle Bay and one in Tumbalong Park, broadcasting all 64 matches of the tournament live.

Fans entering the Darling Harbour precinct will be greeted by a magnificent seven metre diameter inflatable sphere supported high above the ground. This structure known as the ‘Hyundai iBall’ will act as a multi-screen projector beaming Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest exclusive Hyundai content and the matches, on three sides, to fans below and complimenting the giant screens located in the water.

On site, fans will have the chance to win fantastic prizes throughout the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest including an all-new i45 sedan for the winner of the ‘Fan of the Match’ promotion. On selective days during the tournament, Team Hyundai staff will select the four most ‘passionate’ fans in the crowd and ask them to perform a 10-second routine to the audience. The level of support generated by the audience for each of the contestants will determine the winner to receive a great prize, and immediately proceed to the semi finals for a chance to take home the amazing i45 at the ‘Fan of the Match’ finale to be held at Darling Harbour on July 12th right before the FIFA World Cup Final kickoff. More details can be found at www.ilovefootball.com.au.

Beyond the excitement of being at Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest live site, Hyundai will also be extending ‘Fan of the Match’ to fans who wish to take part online. Fans simply need to submit a photo of their personal passionate FIFA World Cup moment to www.ilovefootball.com.au, to be in with a chance of winning two Hyundai A-League club season passes of their choice. Winners will be drawn randomly on a weekly basis throughout the tournament.

The Hyundai Floating Pitch will play host to the Street Soccer Festival presented by Hyundai and supported by the NSW Government. As well as the The Street Soccer National Championship, a community initiative of The Big Issue Australia and the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest™; the Hyundai Floating Pitch will also host 12 ‘Goals for Grassroots’ matches during the event, featuring teams in 10 to12 year old age groups from selected Sydney metropolitan and regional football clubs.

The Hyundai ‘Best Seat in the House’ competition gives lucky fans the chance to enjoy full VIP catering and hospitality, including private transfers to and from their home* at the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest Fleet, and awesome seats on the Hyundai Floating Pitch to watch the Socceroos opening match against Germany. All entry details can be found at www.hyundai.novafm.com.au.

Hyundai & Triple M will bring together the biggest bands to battle it out in the stadium of rock in Triple M’s World Cup of Rock! Throughout the 2010 FIFA World Cup, listeners can follow their favourite band to see if they make it all the way to the finals. Ultimately two bands will battle it out in the final with only one remaining standing. The winning lucky listener will receive a Hyundai i30.

In addition, Team Hyundai hosts will add to the festival atmosphere providing a number of free Hyundai supporter WHiRL towels to ensure Socceroo fans cheer their team in action, while the Hyundai Face-Painters will be on hand providing fans of any of the 2010 FIFA World Cup finalist nations with a chance to truly demonstrate their dedication.

The winner of the ‘Be There With Hyundai’ competition for creating the winning slogan of ‘Dare to Dream, Advance Australia’ which will adorn the official Socceroo team bus in South Africa, will receive their brand new Hyundai i30 in a presentation at Darling Harbour – date to be confirmed.

In 2006 the FIFA Fan Fest attracted over 18 million fans to the 12 official locations, and 2010 is expected to be just as exciting, with all 64 matches to be broadcast from the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest from 11th June to 12th July (AEST) at Darling Harbour, as well as sites in the nine host cities in South Africa, Berlin, Mexico City, Paris, Rome and Rio de Janeiro.
