MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – June 14, 2010: Volkswagen has launched a new dedicated press website – www.vwpress.co.uk.

So – why and what’s new? In simple terms, the site has been completely redesigned above and below the line to ensure it provides journalists with easily accessible and up-to-date information on Volkswagen and its products.

More user-friendly, informative and comprehensive, the site encompasses all the good bits of the old website with the addition of a number of new handy functions and sections including for the first time, Motorsport.

The most commonly accessed areas – press releases and image galleries – are now much easier to find and navigate, while an enhanced search facility makes it simple to find the right information whenever it’s needed. The menus have also been simplified and the new section aptly entitled ‘More’ gives access to all the areas which were previously harder to locate, such as sales figures, factories and motor shows.

To make it easier to remember your login details, visitors to the website will now use their email address as their username. Existing users will have received a personalised notification with their new log-in details, while any journalist without a password can register for access at www.vwpress.co.uk. What’s more, any Newspress users can still access the site direct from the Manufacturer Links section without needing to remember any additional passwords.

The keen-eyed will also have spotted the major advantage of reducing the website’s address by 14 characters… saving valuable keystrokes each time you log on. While www.vwpress.co.uk is the new URL, if www.volkswagenpressoffice.co.uk is stored in your favourites, accessing this will take you directly to the new site.

The site has been built in association with Newspress so as ever they’re available to help with any technical queries. If there’s any feedback you’d like to offer on the content or usability of the site, please direct it to Kate Thompson in the Volkswagen Press Office – either by email (kate.thompson@volkswagen.co.uk), by phone (01908 601187) or via the ‘contact us’ section on the homepage.

We trust you will find the new site a big improvement over the previous one. But it is designed to help you do your job as efficiently as possible so any feedback you can give to help us adapt it to help you will be considered.

If you have not yet received your personalised log-in details, please visit www.vwpress.co.uk and click ‘Create account’ to access the accreditation form
