MI Auto Times competition 'May the Best Truck Win' comes to an exciting close with the GMC Sierra chosen as the MI Auto Times Best Truck

DETROIT, July 16, 2010; After three rounds of evaluations, the GMC Sierra won MI Auto Times Best Truck competition, and the bragging rights for owning the best truck made.

The GMC Sierra was the definitive leader during every matchup judged for power, comfort, value and warranty. The GMC Sierra received four stars -- the highest rating possible -- in three out of four categories during the final round.

Value: GMC Sierra 4 Stars, Dodge Ram 3-1/2 stars.

The GMC Sierra's $5,000 cash back bonus put its price lower than the Dodge Ram's by more than $2,000.(1) The GMC Sierra will also save drivers money because of On-Star vehicle diagnostics, which monitor the truck's status and alert drivers to potential mechanical issues before they become major problems requiring significant repair.

Power: GMC Sierra 4 stars, Dodge Ram 3-1/2 stars.

The GMC Sierra's engine will give drivers slightly more displacement with its V8 4.8-liter engine size versus the Dodge Ram's V8 4.7-liter. Additionally, the GMC Sierra features 161 more pounds payload capacity and 550 more pounds towing capacity.

Comfort: GMC Sierra 3-1/2 stars, Dodge Ram 3-1/4 stars.

The GMC Sierra has more standard and available features, more head room, more leg room, and On-Star, all of which offer GMC Sierra drivers more benefits than the Dodge. The On-Star has automatic crash response, security services to assist in stolen vehicle recovery, emergency services, and even services to help drivers with flat tires.

Factory warranty: GMC Sierra 4 stars, Dodge Ram 3-1/2 stars.

Both trucks have a 5-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty but only the GMC Sierra has 100,000 mile/5-year 24/7 Roadside Assistance plus 100,000 mile/5-year courtesy transportation. The GMC Sierra also has a longer warranty for corrosion protection of 6-years/100,000 miles, which is one year longer than the Dodge Ram.
