LIVONIA, August 2, 2010: Carfax, its dealer customers and Michigan International Speedway started the week off on the right foot for more than 300 Detroit-area families. This morning, from 6-9am, drivers pumped more than 5,500 gallons of $0.99 gas at the Livonia Mobil.

“Michigan has been hit hard by the economy and Carfax and MIS are doing our small part to help ease the impact on this great part of America,” said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax. “By filling up this morning, the average driver saved around $35 that can be used for other necessities. In these tough times, every little bit counts.”

Carfax continues its support of the home of the American automobile and its ongoing investment in Michigan-based sports. The company is sponsoring the “Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend” at Michigan International Speedway Aug. 13-15. The weekend features the fifth NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 on Aug. 14 and will be capped off by the second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 on Aug. 15.

“It’s been a long time since anyone can say they filled up their cars with a tank of gas and actually got some change for a 20-dollar bill,” Michigan International Speedway President Roger Curtis said. “It’s very gratifying to come to an area and do a gas promotion with our partners at Carfax in an area where it’s appreciated and meaningful.”
