Mazda Posts Strong October Sales

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 3, 2010 -- Mazda North American Operations today reported sales of 18,013 vehicles in October 2010, an increase of 19.5 percent (up 24.0 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis) over the same month last year.  Year-to-date sales through October 2010 stand at 192,783, and are outpacing last year's sales at this time by 10.0 percent (up 10.9 percent DSR).

Leading the increase for the month was Mazda's successful crossover SUVs.  CX-7 reported sales of 2,483, up 46.8 percent, while CX-9 posted an increase of 56.7 percent with 2,497 vehicles.  Year-to-date, CX-7 and CX-9 sales are up 47 percent and 43.2 percent respectively.

The fun-to-drive MAZDA3 reported sales of 7,745, up 15.1 percent (19.4 percent on a DSR basis), while the versatile and stylish MAZDA5 recorded sales of 1,174, up 37.6 percent (42.7 percent on a DSR basis).  

The all-new 2011 MAZDA2 continues to make its way from ports to dealer showrooms and sold a modest 629 vehicles in October.  Boasting a sticker price under $14,000, MAZDA2 is a stylish, eco-friendly, fun-to-drive five-door hatchback that offers a dose of Zoom-Zoom others in its class cannot.

Mazda Canada Inc. reported 5,657 vehicles sold, a slight increase of 1.0 percent compared to last October. Year-to-date, MCI sales are up 6.0 percent, with 68,151 units sold.  

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in the United States in 2010, Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers.  Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
