Scotland’s motoring writers select 5008 as their preferred Compact MPV

PARIS – November 11, 2010: The Peugeot 5008 has been voted ‘Scottish MPV of the Year’ by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) at its annual Scottish Car of the Year Awards, held at St. Andrews. The Compact MPV succeeded over competition from all makes and was short-listed with the Ford S-Max and the Mazda 5 for the top spot in the MPV segment.

The seven-seat 5008 is used to filling its capacious interior with awards having won this year’s prestigious What Car? ‘Best MPV’, What Car? Green Awards MPV and Diesel Car magazine’s ‘MPV of the Year’ with its ultimate ‘Car of the Year’ accolade placing it above all other diesel vehicles.

With a class-leading interior incorporating a ‘driver’s cockpit’ ambience, the versatile seven-seat layout that features adjustable middle row seats (which slide and recline individually), a maximum 5-star EuroNCAP protection for all the occupants and the unique-to-the-sector features like the head-up display of speed and distance alert, it is a perfect combination of high quality and space utilisation. Another key virtue of the 5008, promoted as being ‘Enjoyed by families. Loved by drivers,’ is the choice of three well-specified trim levels – Active, Sport and Exclusive, with the top-of-the-range 5008 Exclusive featuring as standard a Cielo panoramic glass roof.

Andrew Didlick, Communications Director, who received the trophy on behalf of Peugeot, comments: “Peugeot is really on a roll at the moment. The new RCZ sports coupé, crossover 3008 and compact 5008 are all very much in demand. This award is further demonstration of the progress and appeal of our new products and comes significantly in the brand’s 200th anniversary year. The Peugeot 5008 really is the perfect family vehicle, so we are not entirely surprised it has collected a boot-full of awards in its first year.”
