VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – December 1, 2010: Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL)’s versatile and value-packed Triton has been named 4x4 Australia magazine’s Ute Of The Year for the second year running.

A panel of judges named the Triton 4x4 GLX-R best among its competitors over several categories; value technological advancement, built tough, ‘bushability’ and how closely the vehicle matched its design brief and purpose.

Editor of 4x4 Australia magazine, Justin Walker, said the Triton was a worthy winner proving that Mitsubishi had stayed a step ahead of its competitors.

“The Triton has gone from strength to strength,” Walker said.

“The introduction of a 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine combined with the class leading safety Super Select 4x4 system and tough build means the top-spec Triton is still the best 4x4 dual-cab ute on the market and a well-deserved winner of this year’s 4x4 Ute of the Year title,” he concluded.

It was a combination of consistency, reliability and value for money that separated the Triton from the competition with the Triton receiving full marks in the value category, edging out the pricier Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux.

The Triton boasts a four star ANCAP safety rating with standard safety features including Active Stability Control, dual front SRS airbags, ABS braking system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body system with front crumple zones to absorb collision energy as well as reinforced supports.

The impressive 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine generates 11 percent more power, is up to nine percent more fuel efficient and is noticeably quieter than its predecessor.

MMAL’s president and CEO, Masahiko Takahashi was delighted to receive this award from such an iconic Australian magazine.

“Mitsubishi is proud to be recognised by 4x4 Australia magazine, one of Australia’s most popular off-road travel adventure publications,” Takahashi said.

“The Triton range delivers fantastic value for money and superior four-wheel drive ability along with the comfort and safety features Mitsubishi is known for.”

The Triton is covered by Mitsubishi’s 10 year / 160,000 kilometre non-transferable drive-train warranty, five year / 130,000 kilometre new vehicle warranty and five year roadside assist as standard, and is available from more than 200 dealerships Australia-wide.
