RÜSSELSHEIM, GERMANY – December 29, 2010: The Opel Insignia is the vehicle with the fewest defects according to the results of the DEKRA Faults Report 2011. With an index of 96.1 percent fault-free Insignias, the Opel flagship achieved the best result of all tested cars. This is the second consecutive year an Opel vehicle took this honor following the Corsa’s victory in the “Best Individual Ranking” category in 2010. The DEKRA generates its annual faults report by conducting precise type assessment in eight vehicle type classes and three kilometer reading ranges. The faults report is based on data from 15 million inspections made on 230 different models.

“This fantastic result is further proof that the quality not only of the Insignia but of our whole model portfolio is top class,” said Alain Visser, Opel/Vauxhall Vice President Marketing, Sales & Aftersales on receiving the prize in Rüsselsheim. “We promise our customers top quality and underline this with a life-long guarantee!”

Wolfgang Linsenmaier, Executive Director at DEKRA Automobile GmbH, added: “I am delighted to be able to congratulate Opel for achieving the best individual ranking in the overall evaluation for the second year in a row! At 96.1 percent fault-free, the Opel Insignia achieved the best result across all vehicle classes.”

Since it was launched in 2008, the Insignia, “Car of the Year 2009”, has received over 40 international awards for its attractive design and innovative technology.

The Opel Insignia offers a wide range of high-grade, innovative technologies. The adaptive FlexRide chassis and the adaptive Opel all-wheel drive system with electronically controlled rear axle limited slip differential (eLSD) set standards in driving dynamics and handling. Further clever, prize-winning technologies such as AFL+ bi-xenon headlamps with nine different lighting functions and the Opel front camera system with lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition are available as options. A further high-class comfort option, particularly for frequent drivers, is the ergonomically optimized sport seats certified by the “Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.” (AGR) orthopedic specialists.
