SALT LAKE CITY--March 4, 2011: The 2011 Honda CR-V is the best-selling small SUV in the United States. According to a recent comparison test conducted by Vehix editors, it's also the best overall small SUV.

“We added the Hyundai Tucson because it's a Top Safety Pick and represents a great value in terms of features for its relatively low price.”

For more details, read the Small SUV Comparison Test, located at Small SUV Comparison.

Vehix chose four popular small SUVs/crossovers for the Small SUV Comparison Test that staged a mix of city, highway and mountain driving. Other competitors included the 2011 Chevy Equinox, the 2011 Toyota RAV4 and the 2011 Hyundai Tucson.

"We chose these vehicles because they represent three of the four best-selling small SUVs in the market today," said Michael Waterman, Vehix Executive Editor. "We added the Hyundai Tucson because it's a Top Safety Pick and represents a great value in terms of features for its relatively low price."

The vehicles were driven on the same testing loop one after another to ensure a fair evaluation.

Vehix editors captured subjective impressions of ride quality, comfort, tech features, design and more. Then they looked at objective measures like fuel economy scores and reliability and safety ratings to determine an overall winner.

Competition was tight, with the 2011 CR-V besting, in order, the Equinox, RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. But the gap between the winner and loser was small, revealing that all four vehicles represent viable options for drivers who need an affordable four-wheel- or all-wheel-drive vehicle that gets good gas mileage and has room to comfortably carry a family and gear through daily driving and adverse weather conditions.
