AUBURN INDIANA March 18, 2011; The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum concluded 2010 with two generous donations. A 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II and a 1937 Cord Custom Beverly Sedan have become the latest additions to the Museum's permanent collection.

Janette and John Mamula of Hopwood, Pennsylvania, donated the 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II Roadster. The 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II roadster is part of the special interest portion of the collection. The Special Interest Gallery features vehicles that exhibit some of the best traits of Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs. In the case of the Tiger, the vehicle excels in performance. The Tiger was developed with the help of legendary builder and racer Carol Shelby. The car was essentially a Sunbeam Alpine with a Ford V-8 engine mounted. The ultimate development of the Tiger was the Mark II which has the larger 289 V-8 that produces 200 horsepower. Only 536 Mark II Tigers were produced. This vehicle has been owned by the donors for more than 30 years and is an exciting car to see!

Margie & Robert Sweet of Ellsworth, Maine, donated the 1937 Cord Custom Beverly Sedan. The Cord 812 Custom Beverly was produced by the Auburn Automobile Company in Connersville, Indiana, for the 1937 model year only. They were built in response to the buyers wanting more rear seat room. The wheelbase was stretched by seven inches giving rear passengers a very comfortable place to sit. Also, the interior height was raised by 1.5 inches. This example is supercharged, which was a feature only offered in 1937. It boosted the horsepower in the V-8 engine from 125 to 170. A total of 235 long wheelbase Cords were produced with 141 of them having a supercharged engine. The original cost of this car was $3,110. This particular car was purchased by the donor in the 1990s in very rough condition and restored to its present beautiful state. A Custom Beverly was on the Museum's collection wish list as a car that the museum should own. The Museum is able to cross this car off its wish list and share it with the public.

With the support of donors like Janette and John Mamula and Margie and Robert Sweet, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum is able to continue to share outstanding automotive treasures with its visitors from around the world each year.
