TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – April 1, 2011: Honda Motor Company has announced the resumption of motor vehicle and component parts production in Japan.

The Saitama factory, where the Accord Euro, Odyssey and Legend are produced and the Suzuka factory, home of the Civic Hybrid and Insight will resume production at 50 percent of the original production plan on Monday, 11 April 2011.

Component parts for production use in regions outside Japan will commence on Monday, 4 April 2011.

Commenting on the supply of vehicles for Australia, Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Satoshi Matsuzawa said, “There is plenty of stock of all models and no major parts shortage, allowing Honda Australia and its dealer network to continue providing industry leading customer satisfaction.

“While it’s business as usual in Australia, our hearts go out to the people of Japan as they rebuild their lives shattered by the earthquake and subsequent Tsunami,” Mr. Matsuzawa said.

The production of Honda motorcycles and power products recommenced in Japan on March 28th. While there may be temporary shortages of some models and components due to the two week factory closure, any disruption to Australian customers will be minimal.
