Jaguar Land Rover Awards Tally Rises As The Range Rover Evoque Claims Its 22nd International Award

GAYDON, UNITED KINGDOM – Oct 27, 2011: Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) strongest ever model line up has seen the two iconic brands clock up an impressive seventy four international awards so far this year with a number of significant accolades in the awards calendar yet to be bestowed.

The latest win comes from leading US publication Motor Trend for the Range Rover Evoque, its 22nd international award this year. The Evoque was presented with the coveted 'SUV of the Year' title by Editor-in-Chief, Angus MacKenzie in recognition of its refinement and capability both on and off the road and its artful combination of traditional Range Rover values with stunning state-of-the-moment design and efficiency.

Commenting on the latest win, John Edwards, Global Brand Director for Land Rover said: "Since its global debut a year ago, the Range Rover Evoque has made an unmistakable impact on the media and customers alike. This latest awards win brings the Evoque's tally to an impressive twenty two and I am delighted that it comes from one of America's most pre-eminent publications."

This accolade comes hot on the heels of the Evoque being crowned 'Car of the Year' at the prestigious Scottish Car of the Year Awards. Other significant wins for the Evoque have included: in the UK, Auto Express 'Car of the Year' and Car Design News 'Best Production Car', in China, 'Car of the Year for Design and Performance' from Car magazine and 'Stunning Design Award' from Orient Car and in South Africa, 'Women on Wheels' 'SUV of the Year'.

The Land Rover Discovery 4, the most decorated of SUVs, continues its success with six significant awards including 'Best 4x4' by both Auto Express and What Car? in the UK, whilst the Range Rover claimed a significant category win at the Russian Car of the Year awards, the Range Rover Sport was crowned 'Best Luxury SUV' by China's SUV.com and the Freelander 2 was named 'Best 4x4' at the UK Honest John awards.

And, it is not just production models that have received critical acclaim. The DC100 concept which made its global debut at the Frankfurt Motorshow, was named 'Best Concept' by Autoweek magazine.

Jaguar has also had an incredibly successful year collecting thirty four awards recognising every model in its line up.

Leading the charge with fourteen global awards is the XJ. Nine of these have been awarded in China and include 'Most Beautiful Car Design of 2011' from Car and Driver, Luxury Car of the Year' from Sohu Auto and 'Best Car for the New Generation of Business Elites' for the 3.0l petrol from International Finance News. Other notable wins for the flagship model included 'Best New Car 2011' by the UK's AM magazine and 'Best Executive Car' from Russia's KLakson.

The XK and XF have been recognised in Brazil, Russia, China and the UK. XK was named 'Best premium Coupe' by Automobile in Russia whilst the XF was named 'Best Executive Car' by Brazil's Carro magazine and received the incredibly prestigious 'Car of the Decade' as voted for by readers of the UK's Auto Express magazine.

Commenting on Jaguar's performance this year, Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director for Jaguar said: "2011 has so far been a solid year for Jaguar with sales last month up 14% globally over the preceding year. The XJ has had an incredible impact in China with sales up 234% since the introduction of the 3.0l engine and this is clearly reflected in the outstanding number of awards in this market.
