Mazda Reports 1.7 Percent Sales Gain in October

IRVINE, CANov. 1, 2011: Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported its best October sales in the U.S. since 2007, with 18,326 vehicles representing an increase of 1.7 percent versus October 2010. On a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis, Mazda's October 2011 sales were up 5.7 percent. Year-to-date sales through October are up 8.7 percent versus last year, with 209,641 vehicles sold.

Key October sales notes:

  • Mazda6 recorded its best October since 2008, with sales of 3,438 vehicles, accounting for a 38.8 percent increase.
  • Mazda's stylish CX-7 realized a 13.0 percent increase with 2,807 vehicles sold, which marks its best October since 2007. CX-7 sales are up 31.9 percent on the year with 30,642 vehicles sold.

  • Mazda2 sales are up 51.7 percent with 954 vehicles sold in October. Year-to-date Mazda2 sales are up 584.6 percent.

Rounding out the North American market, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported its best-ever October with sales of 2,594 vehicles, accounting for a 29.0 percent increase versus last year. MMdM's year-to-date sales are up 20.0 percent with 23,316 vehicles sold. In a challenging market, Mazda Canada, Inc. (MCI) sold 5,377 vehicles, down 5.0 percent versus last year. MCI's year-to-date sales of 59,149 vehicles are down 13.0 percent versus last year.

Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
