DETROIT - November 12, 2011: When you hear of a fire over the scanners or get a tip from a viewer about a shooting, you start thinking…how quickly can I get a crew there? And can we get a live shot out for the top of the next show? Well, despite how quickly news crews have to get to the scene, the police have to get there even faster. That's why the typical police car is made very different than the average car.

Police cars not only require a bullet proof design, they also have to be able to accelerate quickly and come to a grinding halt promptly. In addition, they also need to be durable to withstand the test of time and miles; especially with dwindling budgets allotted for local governments.

For the past decade, the most popular police cruiser has been the Crown Vic. But now, that car is being retired and police departments across the country are setting their sights on the police car of the future, The Chevrolet Caprice. One of the things that make this car different is comfort.
