TEMPE, AZ--Aug. 7, 2013: National Stop on Red Week has an important message for drivers everywhere. Don't run red lights. To help spread the message to stop on red and avoid the often-tragic results, American Traffic Solutions (ATS) presents a video of red-light running crashes, captured by red-light safety cameras, at this web page Red Light Safety Cameras video is intended as a reminder to drivers of the danger red-light runners pose to themselves and others.

Each year in the United States, hundreds of people are killed and thousands more are injured in traffic crashes involving a driver who illegally runs a red light. About half of these victims are innocent people who entered the intersection on the green light, only to have their lives changed forever by a moment of lawlessness. These tragedies occur at crossroads in small towns and big cities, leaving all of us at risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports red-light runners killed more than 700 people and injured 118,000 more in 2011.

ATS supports Stop on Red Week, which is held the first full week of August each year, and urges everyone to make the most of the resources in their community and online to become more familiar with the dangers of red-light running and how to become a safer driver. Please visit these online sites:

Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance introduces visitors to the young men and women who died in red-light collisions, and what their family members are doing to protect others from a similar heartache. Red Means Stop National Coalition for Safer Roads is a gathering point for road-safety organizations and a clearinghouse for information. Its Stop on Red Week page is a highly detailed resource. NCSR Safety Initiated by the Federal Highway Administration, National Stop on Red Week is dedicated to educating Americans about the dangers of running red lights and to reducing the number and severity of traffic citations and crashes. Red Light Outreach

As the leading red-light safety camera provider in North America, ATS is thoroughly familiar with the lifesaving benefits of red-light safety cameras. Drivers should always slow down and prepare to make a complete stop when a light turns yellow at an intersection. Yellow lights alert drivers to a change in traffic flow. Drivers at intersections are to always yield to pedestrians as they have the right of way and to always come to a full and complete stop before turning right on red. It's the law. Be sure the roadway is clear before proceeding.
