Studebaker's Closing A Panel Discussion at the Studebaker National Museum That Will Separate Fact from Fiction

Wednesday, January 8, 2014 – The Studebaker National Museum will host Studebaker’s Closing: Separating Fact from Fiction a panel discussion on the closing of Studebaker’s South Bend plant at 1:00pm in the Wiekamp Auditorium. Panelists will include South Bend Tribune reporter Jack Colwell, automotive historian, scholar, and author Robert Ebert; Studebaker Drivers Club Technical Editor, Robert Palma. The program will be moderated by Studebaker National Museum Archivist, Andrew Beckman.

Colwell, a veteran South Bend Tribune reporter, covered the Studebaker plant’s closing for the Tribune in 1963 and continues to write a weekly political column in addition to serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame. Ebert, professor emeritus of Economics at Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, recently published a book, “Champion of The Lark” chronicling Studebaker’s history in the late 1950s and early 1960s and is secretary of the Society of Automotive Historians. Palma is the Technical Editor of the Studebaker Drivers Club and a well-respected expert of 1960s Studebaker automobiles.

The program is free with regular admission to the Studebaker National Museum and to all Studebaker National Museum members.
