March 10, 2014: The all-electric car, to be driven by Brian Orr of sustainability consultants EV Matters Ltd, is to take part in the World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE), which starts in Sindelfingen, Germany, on 31st May and ends at Rigi in Switzerland on 7th June. The event will see up to 70 teams taking in 20-plus towns and cities en route across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

As well as being an entrant in its own right in the over-900kg class, the i-MiEV will also be providing support for a hand-built prototype 'utility vehicle' being developed for use in the Third World, which is being entered in the sub-900kg category by auto-engineering company Green MotorSport Ltd.

Brian, from Wokingham, said: 'We're doing this to promote green issues and sustainable issues. It's a really worthy cause.'

All in all, the i-MiEV, which will be carrying the liveries of some 15 ecology-related sponsors, will be travelling some 3,000 miles, after the return journey through France and Belgium to get to and from the event is factored in.

Brian bought his i-MiEV from Anthony Betts Mitsubishi in Hemel Hempstead. The vehicle has already risen to the dual challenges of driving the length of the UK as well as across to France and back without paying for fuel and with zero emissions.
