The Kia Sportage retained its best-selling position within Kia’s range, attracting almost 3,500 buyers, followed by Picanto, cee’d, Rio and Venga, and the brand maintained its strong retail performance with 56 per cent of buyers coming from amongst that sector.

Kia’s September sales has only been surpassed by the brand’s performance in March this year when 14,787 new cars were delivered, but it surpassed the previous best September – in 2013.

Yaser Shabsogh, Commercial Director, commented: “In a tough marketplace it was reassuring to see that Kia’s continued record performance held throughout September to deliver our best-ever autumn sales month.

“The market is continuing to grow and with it our performance remains very strong and gives us every reason to believe we shall surpass our target of 78,000 units this year – yet another record year for Kia! And I am particularly pleased that our strong retail performance has continued – that delivers good results for our 181-strong dealer network,” he added.

Kia’s September performance represented an increase of 4.43 per cent over the same month last year and the year-to-date total is 7.26 per cent up over 2014.
