Statement by John Bozzella, Global Automakers President and CEO

WASHINGTON -- Jan. 27, 2015: "Global Automakers welcomed today's House and Senate hearings to discuss President Obama's trade agenda. We support U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman's continued commitment to a trade policy that includes Trade Promotion Authority (TPA).

"Froman outlined how trade agreements support American jobs and Made in America exports. We agree. For the past 30 years, the United States has become an important hub for manufacturing and now exporting nearly 450,000 motor vehicles around the world. Our members have invested $47 billion in U.S. facilities – including design, R&D, manufacturing, sales and finance operations. Today, they employ over 92,000 Americans.

"For any country, success in today's global economy requires an open market strategy. Continued support for TPA will encourage future investments in the U.S. auto industry resulting in increased competitiveness, additional job opportunities and many benefits to American consumers and businesses."
