Frank Luntz has become known as a "public opinion guru" and is a frequent guest of television news shows on CNN, CNBC, PBS, NBC, and especially the FOX News Channel. He is normally explaining the results of the focus groups he's organized or public opinion trends and results of others' polls.

On Thursday, September 5th, Mr. Luntz was a guest on FOX News' prime time Laura Ingraham show to discuss the previous day's marathon "Climate Town Hall" staged by CNN. The event featured most of the Democrat Party's presidential hopefuls for 2020.

At about 3 minutes into the 4:36 interview, Frank Luntz diverted from the course of discussing the opinions of the Democrat challengers and delivered a surprising cogent presentation for how and why America should make an immediate move to using E85...about how our country could become energy independent by next November 2020. Mr. Luntz began his statement by saying he hoped that President Trump was watching the show (given Trump's usual fondness for FOX News, he may have been watching).

Show host Laura Ingraham looked stunned by Luntz' ethanol advocacy, as if she had no idea that Luntz would talk about this safe, sane, domestic solution. At times, she appeared uncomfortable, nearly rolling her eyes, and made a short ill-informed comment about "more and more giveaways to corn growers." Luntz responded pretty well with correct contrary information and proceed with his pitch. The news segment can be seen in the video below:

Ms. Ingraham brings the impromptu E85 endorsement to a close with a attempt at some whimsical banter. I didn't think it provided a smooth transition.

When I first saw this interview it practically knocked me off my chair. It was totally unexpected, but of course I was thrilled by the pro-ethanol statement. It was an accurate proposal of what could and should immediately take place in America (and around the world). Coincidentally, the message was part of my own plan for America, which I enunciated on Friday in my published rebuttal to an unfavorable Forbes' editorial on ethanol.

I, too, hope that Donald Trump was watching the interview and then asked some questions of his people in order to verify the validity of Luntz' proposal, and take it to heart.

Unfortunately, FOX News has a history of presenting negative information about ethanol fuel (see stories below). Of course, I have to mention that CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and all the other broadcast news organizations eat from the same Big Oil apple tree, and so they all have a history of presenting incorrect ethanol information.
