Since its inception in 1963, SEMA has always been a community of people gathering together who absolutely love cars and have a passion for fabricating, modifying, improving, and beautifying automobiles in a fresh and creative way. It’s no surprise that Barry Meguiar attended the very first SEMA show as it was a perfect fit for what Meguiar’s is as a brand. Year after year Meguiar’s has continued to be an integral part of both SEMA and the car community as a whole.

As most vendors at SEMA each year, Meguiar’s is always very selective about the cars they have in their booth. This year is certainly no exception. Meguiar’s wants the cars they select to reflect what the brand has embodied for over 118 years now, perfecting and protecting paint finishes while genuinely connecting, and building relationships with others who are equally as passionate about cars. Meguiar’s is extremely excited about the cars painstakingly hand-selected to be showcased in their booth. They come from different parts of the world, are two very different builds from completely different genres, yet they are a perfect match for the brand.

The first of the extreme builds showcased in the Meguiar’s booth at SEMA this year is an in-house build by Rob Zahabi (owner of Rides by Kam) along with his three sons and a few close friends. His 1970 Dodge Challenger is appropriately dubbed “Havoc” and has been making its rounds in the Australian car circuit wooing crowds and accumulating awards. In fact, his build has won over 20 awards between Summernats and MotorEX, two of Australia’s biggest and most prestigious car shows. Rob is no stranger to extreme and radical builds and has been featured in the Meguiar’s booth at SEMA twice before highlighting his amazing craftsmanship and passion.

This year his Challenger is a completely hand-built custom design and is a spectacular combination of classic 70’s Mopar Muscle, modern advancements and brilliantly tasteful design touches. The car is almost all hand fabricated and sits on a Roadster Shop built chassis with full custom air suspension by RideTech. The powerplant is an astonishing 572 cubic-inch, 9.4-liter Hemi Big Block with crank-driven FR3 Pro Charger. The all-steel interior is hand-formed with custom brown double-stitched leather, and door handles supplied by Dave Kindig. Sitting over the subtly sculpted bodylines and flush-mounted bumpers is a PPG Vibrance Range Charlie Hutton Collection Slanted Brown on the lower portions with a custom mixed upper color. Both engine bay and interior are in the same brilliant color, but with a matte clear over top to provide a beautifully subtle contrast. SEMA this year will be the first time ever that this elegant beast will be seen in the U.S.

The other amazing build featured in the Meguiar’s booth this year is a special collaboration between Ross Gredys & Kyle Ray (Rebellion Forge Racing) and Eric Penelow & Khyzyl Saleem (LTO - Live to Offend). Ross has been doing amazing fabrications for over a decade while Kyle, who has done previous SEMA builds, has been a driving force in taking Rebellion Forge Racing to the next level with his extremely high standards and quality of work. Then, Khyzyl has been creating breath-taking renderings and designs for years, and is the visionary of LTO, while Eric employs his branding and productions skills taking the vision and turning it into a tangible reality. Last year at SEMA, LTO revealed an aggressive E30 highlighting their bold and beautiful body kit.

This year the talented team debuts an extreme 1988 BMW E30 with custom modifications and subtle touches to almost every single aspect of the car from the inside out. At the heart of the spectacular build is an impressive 6.0-liter LS engine featuring custom ported heads by Smithberg Racing and Haltech Elite engine management system. The all custom 8-1 exhaust is ferocious and is truly a work of art as it flares out and funnels elegantly toward the back of the body. The custom touches of craftsmanship are glaringly evident from the tube chassis front to the fully modified rear suspension and subframe. The inside reminds you that the car is not only beautiful but also purposely built for speed with a full TIG welded roll bar and all seats, harnesses and steering wheel by Sabelt.

Outside your attention is immediately drawn to the latest LTO body kit which highlights the lines of the BMW with perfection. The featured body kit is the final production version that they are also making available for purchase, something to keep in mind. For the final touches, they’ve carefully sprayed Spies Hecker paint using a Porsche paint-to-sample Olive Green (Olivgrün - code L274) color, inspired by Porsche’s latest GT2 RS. They’ve laid down over 5 coats of clear to seal in, and set off, the dramatic eye-catching color for extreme depth and shine. Underneath and in the engine bay they’ve gone with a beautiful Leadfoot Grey from Ford albeit with a satin texture, while all the tube work was completed with same color but with a gloss finish for an unassuming contrast. It’s topped off with tasteful accent colors of black and orange. This BMW has never been seen before and proudly makes its debut at SEMA with Meguiar’s this year.

While these two cars are very different, they are both amazingly crafted artistic expressions and, both are certainly built for performance. They’re also designed and fabricated by very talented and creative individuals who are driven by an extreme passion for cars. Drop by the Meguiar’s booth to experience these mind-blowing builds and connect with others who have an undeniable love for cars.
