Newport Car Museum Offers AAA Discount on Black Friday
(Plus Additional November Happenings)
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (October 30, 2019) – The Newport Car Museum<https://newportcarmuseum.org/> will offer special $12 admission for AAA members on Black Friday (November 29), the day after Thanksgiving. The discount is $6 off the regular adult ticket price of $18 for visitors showing a valid AAA membership card at the door.
“There’s nothing we love more than seeing families enjoying the Newport Car Museum experience,?? said Gunther Buerman, who co-founded the Museum with his wife Maggie Buerman. “It appeals to all ages, and especially at Thanksgiving time, it’s something interesting and educational to do if you’re not into spending Black Friday shopping at a crowded mall.??

Visitors will enjoy a private collection of over 75 unique and valuable cars dating from the 1950s through to current models (exhibited in six galleries) as well as simulators for testing driving skills on virtually any road course in the world. The largest car museum in New England, the Newport Car Museum is located in Portsmouth, R.I., just six miles north of Newport.

More About Newport Car Museum

The Newport Car Museum first opened in 2017 with 50 cars and by its one-year anniversary had added another 20 cars before introducing eight more on its second anniversary this June. Presented as proudly as if they were in the MOMA, the immaculately kept cars are displayed in six galleries, using low-rise platforms and turntables, theatrical lighting, specially commissioned large-format artwork and award-winning videos to tell the story of Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, World Cars, Fin Cars, Mopars and American Muscle Cars.

Walking through the museum’s 70,000 square feet of exhibit space is both like walking down memory lane and taking a crash course on post-World War II automotive history, starting with the oldest cars from 1954, including a bright yellow Buick Skylark Convertible and jet black Kaiser Darrin 162, and finishing with the newest models from 2019, including a sleek Corvette ZR-1 convertible and power-hungry Dodge Demon. There are no ropes around the cars, and an impressive collection of Mid-Century modern furniture provides comfortable, fun places to sit and contemplate the cars as works of art. Instead of audio tours, docents – and many times the co-founders themselves – ignite lively exchanges of information and recollections, while eight driving simulators and a fascinating gift shop round out the Newport Car Museum experience, which can take anywhere from 90 minutes to several hours, depending on how long one decides to spend admiring any given car.
The Newport Car Museum, handicap accessible and open 10-5 daily, is housed in a converted three-acre building that was once used as a missile design and manufacturing facility for The Raytheon Company (a U.S. defense contractor, which today shares a street entrance to its campus with the Museum). Parking, ample for 350 cars, is free, and tickets can be bought at the door or online at www.newportcarmuseum.org<https://u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net/wf/click?upn=84Em28S1K9SvtzcUtu04Em9KwuLA9XkUUwydoTkpK9p0f8HK0c-2FSlH2qvk3cqfzI_zkcCClNZHXlkxieF4dQWak9vIJQfeUyymkLoobNCRmMBy-2FNJUsbzO77vsoECWiI9dnfHWGniPJwMh-2BlBywU-2FQbnKqaNRRv-2BX1sV7a8VrcMG-2BQ9iYfA2i9ECnqX1JcJL52mkTLIffTs50S0Usi4IsZUd1fhHKv0bRrZlNoZ9mqwXymDeQYiUYUhwPgo5WYhR9Y-2Ff-2F6WBAB3M3fhyI2-2BER2kIRsxYpXujOVUQ517jwG8GvlpDN-2FafD0AqPS7S5kQY-2FjKeQo4c0wWdFpyWZBqBQR54di8geboVFJb53iXIOQ6VCf3klU1AsLus0t7amx1ii4q3P4j-2BhMEnh6dvYrWZZ25yCPKqJVR-2Bah7gMVm4tPi2l3qDbUJyC8Kqz-2FR6PFBkK>.
