*WHAT: *The Nethercutt Collection announces a Best of Show win at the
Inaugural Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance. The Overall Best of Show award
went to one prewar car and one post war car. *The Nethercutt Collection’s
1931 Bugatti Type 51, Coupe (pictured below) was the prewar winner.*

An exciting, richly curated multi-day event, the Inaugural Las Vegas
Concours d’Elegance was a one-of-a-kind blend of elegance and
audaciousness. 140 select vehicles from the greatest collections in the
world were exhibited at the Dragonridge Country Club. The event honored
spectacular classic automobiles, while also featuring remarkable
present-day cars and some of the most daring automobiles concepts of the
future. It included the first ever Helene Awards – named for Helene Rother,
the first woman to work as an automotive designer for General Motors in
1943, and celebrating excellence in the automotive industry.

The winning 1931 Bugatti – Type 51, Coupe is perhaps the most important
Bugatti to have been discovered and restored in recent years. In 2000, the
Nethercutt restoration team mated the very stylish Dubos-built body back to
its original race-winning Grand Prix chassis after being separated in the
late 1940s.

*WHO: *The Nethercutt Collection and Museum feature over 250 American and
European automobiles dating from 1898 to 1997. Founder J.B. Nethercutt
spent a lifetime establishing this collection of historic importance.
Unique to automobile museums, each car on display is attentively serviced
and maintained to remain as drivable as when the vehicle originally rolled
off the showroom floor. On view are various Pebble Beach Concours
d’Elegance winners and cars once owned by movie stars, royalty and other
notable personalities.

The entire collection is housed in two beautifully appointed exhibit
facilities located just north of Los Angeles in Sylmar, CA. The Nethercutt
Museum showcases more than 250 American and European automobiles dating
from 1898 to 1997. As one of the world’s greatest antique, vintage, classic
and special interest automobiles, the museum also houses the Nethercutt
Automotive Research Library and Archives, one of the world’s top automotive
research facilities. And just steps outside the Museum are a resplendently
restored steam locomotive and private railcar, which were owned by the
eldest daughter of Santa Anita Race Track founder, E.J. “Lucky?? Baldwin.
Across the street, opened in 1971, the Nethercutt Collection is a
not-for-profit educational institution and a resource for automobile
enthusiasts, historians, students and scholars, which showcases noteworthy
one-of-a-kind cars like Duesenbergs, Cadillacs, Isotta-Fraschini, Minvera,
Renault, Maybach, and many other European and American built automobiles.
It is open to the public at no charge.
