Paul Driessen, a senior policy advisor with the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) and the Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise, has written a new anti-ethanol editorial. This assault on ethanol was published on the Eurasia Review website two days ago under the title "No End In Sight For The Biofuel Wars".

This editorial from Paul is especially disappointing. I say "especially disappointing" because last year (2018) after he wrote a fallacious editorial about ethanol, I published a rebuttal to it. My rebuttal resulted in an exchange of emails between us with the end result of him writing: "Thank you very much for this fascinating, detailed education. You really enlightened me, and I truly appreciate it. I will keep this email around for future reference..." My published rebuttal was titled "Using E10 (and E15) in Your Boat - A Lesson Learned" and it can be found by CLICKING HERE.

I acknowledge that the subject of Mr. Driessen's 2018 editorial and the new editorial is slightly different (in regards to its scope), but both are anti-ethanol. I would have hoped that before launching any new attacks on ethanol that he would have taken the time to verify the information, perhaps even soliciting my opinion of the comments - since I may be the only person he's ever come in contact with that has accurate information about ethanol. Unfortunately, he didn't. Consequently, in this new editorial he included several ridiculously incorrect comments regarding the so-called "blend wall," claims that ethanol damages engines, hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico, the RFS, RINs, and other items.

None of the anti-ethanol claims are new; they're actually quite humdrum. But, if they're not countered, the hum of the drum becomes louder as the claims are adopted by other ethanol-haters and ne'er-do-wells to support their own misguided offensives. To counter the inaccuracies, lies, gross exaggerations, and distortions that Mr. Driessen claims, I present the following reports and essays I've written in the hope that Paul Driessen will be reminded of the truth and stop his unjustified attacks:
