Honda Xcelerates Start-Up Innovations

Honda, like other automakers, really wants to connect with high-tech startups. So it established a division in Silicon Valley called Honda Innovations. And as part of that it launched Honda Xcelerator. It provides workspace, mentors, and prototyping and testing capabilities to people who have ideas but don’t have the means to develop them. Dennis Clark, the managing director of strategic partnerships, takes us on a tour of several of the products that are coming out of Honda Xcelerator.

Continental CUbE: A New Urban Mobility Experience

Public transportation is predicted to continue to increase over time and more people will turn to shared mobility. In the future, many of these vehicles will be autonomous and that raises the question, how do pedestrians and road users communicate with them when there’s no driver? With its new CUbE concept, Continental is working on new ways for robo vehicles to communicate with people. But it’s also a testing platform for how customers will experience future mobility.

Gentex started out as a small company that made rear view mirrors for cars. Bose: Intuitive Sound Generation

Don’t you just hate all the beeps and warnings you get from the safety systems in your car? Some people just turn them off, which defeats the purpose of having these safety systems in the first place. Bose has a solution. They call it “aware signal steering.” And being Bose, it’s all about how you hear sound.

Porsche Taycan Gets Custom Bose Sound System

Weight and power consumption are big deals for electric vehicles because automakers want the longest range possible from their batteries. That means scrutinizing over systems they might never have with an internal combustion engine vehicle, like the audio system. Check out how Porsche and Bose worked together to develop the sound system for the all-new Taycan.

Bertrandt: Helping to Develop New Products

Bertrandt may be a name you’ve never heard before, but it’s a large company that’s been around for more than 40 years and it supports its customers through the whole product development process. At CES, Bertrandt revealed an innovation platform, called HARRI that shows its ability in each of the mega trends; e-mobility, autonomy, connectivity and digitalization.

Valeo Develops Robo Delivery Shuttle

Could the pizza delivery person become a thing of the past? If supplier Valeo has anything to say about it, they will. It has created an autonomous, electric delivery shuttle that can be used to transport all kinds of goods to people, including food. What makes this shuttle unique is that it’s made using existing Valeo technology, like LIDAR and other sensors as well as a 48-volt propulsion system. Not only does that make it more affordable, but it should also make it safer than that pizza delivery person.

Faraday Future FF91: Kick Back & Relax

Kick off your shoes, rest your feet, put on a warm blanket and turn on the TV. Sounds pretty good, right? That’s the kind of experience Faraday Future wants you to have inside its first vehicle, the FF91.

Faraday Future Ready For A Comeback

It cancelled plans to build a greenfield plant, and retrenched. Now it looks like they might be putting those problems behind them. Carsten Breitfeld, the CEO, talks about how the company will launch its car this year and how they plan to revolutionize mobility services.
