Honda Xcelerates Start-Up Innovations

Honda, like other automakers, really wants to connect with high-tech startups. So it established a division in Silicon Valley called Honda Innovations. And as part of that it launched Honda Xcelerator. It provides workspace, mentors, and prototyping and testing capabilities to people who have ideas but don’t have the means to develop them. Dennis Clark, the managing director of strategic partnerships, takes us on a tour of several of the products that are coming out of Honda Xcelerator.

Continental CUbE: A New Urban Mobility Experience

Public transportation is predicted to continue to increase over time and more people will turn to shared mobility. In the future, many of these vehicles will be autonomous and that raises the question, how do pedestrians and road users communicate with them when there’s no driver? With its new CUbE concept, Continental is working on new ways for robo vehicles to communicate with people. But it’s also a testing platform for how customers will experience future mobility.

Valeo Develops Robo Delivery Shuttle

Could the pizza delivery person become a thing of the past? If supplier Valeo has anything to say about it, they will. It has created an autonomous, electric delivery shuttle that can be used to transport all kinds of goods to people, including food. What makes this shuttle unique is that it’s made using existing Valeo technology, like LIDAR and other sensors as well as a 48-volt propulsion system. Not only does that make it more affordable, but it should also make it safer than that pizza delivery person.
