LONDON - March 20, 2020: Classic Car Auctions are preparing for their first virtual sale which will be held on March 28th and features 188 fantastic lots which will be auctioned throughout the day from 10 am.

Recent weeks have proved challenging but Classic Car Auctions have been working exceedingly hard behind the scenes to bring their auction to reality with the help of additional partners and suppliers.

Gary Dunne Classic Car Auctions Manager commented: “We have certainly been thrown a challenge and one we have been keen to make happen. We have a superb catalogue and with the full support of our vendors, we are putting on a virtual auction.”

“Among the 188 Lots are these simply superb cars which are just some of the high-quality offerings we will be auctioning on the 28th.”

Cars that featured in successful films and TV programmes tend to go on make that model famous. In the 1980s one of the most famous programmes was Magnum PI where Tom Selleck drove the classic Ferrari 308 around Oahu. The programme went on to make this a very highly desirable model and Classic Car Auctions are offering a glorious 1981 308 GTS. Presented in the classic colours of Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior, this car was imported into the UK in 1997 where it has been beautifully looked after and maintained. This European specification car is in left-hand drive and was new to Holland and comes with a great history file. Estimated at £32,000 to £37,000 and a recent service at QV London this is an impressive Ferrari in the classic shape.

Our next Lot couldn’t be more different but has a huge following. From the era of flower power, we have a Type 2 1967 split screen VW Camper, or Splittie as they are affectionately called. This VW is in outstanding condition, it almost scores top marks in the condition report. To achieve this exceptional standard this 13 window Splittie has been extensively restored over five years at a cost of £100,000 by the very best VW automotive specialists. Looking absolutely stunning in Cumulous White over Sea Blue with stainless steel bumpers it is powered by a Laurie Pettit 2030cc engine and unique Bears Motorsport developed Freeway Flyer gearbox. The interior is amazing with full leather seating and oak fixtures. The attention to detail is incredible and at an estimate of £40,000 to £50,000, this is one of the very best Type 2 Splitties.

Next up is the 1962 Porsche 356 B T6 Super Coupe. A cracking little Porsche fitted with a Harry Pellow built standard engine. Harry Pellow was very well known and influential in 356 circles, he was known as The Maestro for what he did to these engines. This is a splendid car in Super specification and drives superbly having just been serviced and completing a tour of the US West Coast. Estimated at £45,000 to £50,000 it is now in the UK and fully registered.

Our final car in this release is a 1997 BMW 840Ci Sport in stunning condition, a testament to the three former owners and the 21,500 miles on the clock. This 840 has been part of a private collection since 2017 and when new was used by Hollard Park BMW as a demonstrator. Looking resplendent in Deep Orient Blue with light grey Nappa leather this car was lightly used from new and in 2006 it was taken off the road until 2012. Estimated at £26,000 to £30,000 this is a fabulous car with a comprehensive history.

Gary Dunne Classic Car Auctions Manager commented: “‘We always have a great selection of German engineering at its best, BMWs, Mercedes, Porsche etc, but this selection is what could easily be termed best of breed and are each just slightly out of the ordinary.”

“We have put in place lots of additional resources to support online bidding with Proxibid, The Saleroom and Invaluable for our virtual auction. We also have additional phone lines and you can leave a commission bid.”

“Where possible, we will be adding video content of the interior, exterior and with the engine running for each Lot.”

For this sale, the additional 1% fee that is usually in place for online bidding, will be waivered by CCA to help those who have an eye on their next purchase.

The auction will still be starting at 10am on Saturday 28th March.
