Ever since, the Touring and Superleggera trademarks were synonymous with understated elegance, quality and technical innovation. In 1936, Touring introduced an advanced construction system: a sub-frame made of thin steel tubes underpinning the body's hand-hammered alloy panels. It was so innovative, bringing weight reduction and stiffness at the same time, that it was patented. Together with Touring's ground-breaking design language and the advanced aerodynamic studies, the patent created an irresistible mix that helped Touring Superleggera setting milestones in automobile design.
