2020 Automotive Heritage Awards Call For Entries

PHOTO

Greetings Supporters of the Automotive Heritage Awards: We’re about six weeks out from the entry deadline for the 2020 Automotive Heritage Awards, so it’s just the right time to broadcast as widely as we can the call for entries. We’ll be reminding our potential entrants and asking relevant organizations and associations to help spread the word among those who produce content in the automotive heritage space. We expect our Brembo/Concours of America venue to host our awards event again, but if the virus interferes we’ll have an alternate Web-based plan ready. We’re confident the Concours folks will make the best choice, whatever that is.

Here are Call for Entries one-pager in Word or similar program format and an e-mail elevator pitch prepared by Gary W. for distribution to the auto press associations. If you’d like to help, please send one or both of these (feel free to edit or alter to your needs) to the relevant people within your spheres of influence.

Thanks for your help and support.

If you sometimes write about old cars, historic facilities, heritage motorsports, people, restoration projects or whatever, you should know that the third annual Automotive Heritage Journalism Awards are open through May 31 for works posted and/or published during calendar year 2019.

There are 10 categories and very nice Alex Buchan designer trophies for category winners as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze awards (based on a points-based judging system) in each category. Judges are well-respected veterans, and the awards are announced and presented on the Sunday morning of the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. Johns in Livonia, MI.

Entries – which must be automotive heritage related, not about current vehicles, travel (unless in an old vehicle) or people, etc. – are submitted online via links or pdfs (except for books) with a $50 fee per entry. Here are the rules and entry form: https://autoheritagefoundation.org/portfolio/automotive-heritage-journalism-awards/

It's an increasingly widely respected program for recognizing and rewarding superior works of automotive heritage journalism under the umbrella Automotive Heritage Foundation (AHF) organization, and best of luck if you decide to enter one or more examples of your best work from 2019
