DRIVING WITH KIDS IIHS Tutorial

Opinion Of Milton Snide's
Guardian of truth and family way

Hey Ladies, I know you vowed back in high-school to never be “that girl” who drove a mini-van no matter what, but listen to old Uncle Milton and have enough self-confidence to break your SUV shackles and enjoy the many benefits and practicalities of a minivan, the No Excuses Vehicle!

Here at The Auto Channel we believe that your vehicle is an appliance (that may also offer a bonus of emotional benefits)that most of all must provide for your practical driving needs and only a minivan will meet those needs. If you have a large family or drive carpool or enjoy family road trips or need to move some furniture or make monthly trips to Costco or like antiquing or flea-marketing or need take your kid to college, or or or...choose a minivan... CUV's and SUV's are not a minivan substitute but a come-in-second choice as the family hauler...when you REALLY need your family car to have the space and flexibility, no SUV can compete with the assets a minivan provides.

Come'on girls it's time to put aside your misguided vanity and get over the childish memories of the derogatory high school yearbook and admit that minivans are good for you; like flats instead of heels, sports bra's instead of pushups, yoga pants instead of tights that show every bump on your ass, washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves and robot vacuums...tools that make your life easier and less crazy (if that is possible)...it's time to be a big girl, trade-in that "can't even see over the steering wheel" SUV and start living with a minivan, a no excuses vehicle that the whole family will enjoy. Inside is what matters for a minivan. It has to change, often quickly, between passenger and cargo duty, has to have easy access for everything and everyone, and has to be comfortable enough to prevent family discord on long trips.

TACH's TAKE; The editor's here at The Auto Channel have always been fans and promoters of minivans as the vehicle of choice for families and those who wish to eliminate limitations in their every day drivers. I enjoyed reading this article in the New York Times business section and thought that more of you should read what we here at TACH have been saying for over 20 years.

Here is a link to Minivan research, specs and reviews and listed and linked The Auto Channel's Minivan Reviews for the past 22 years...come on ladies have enough confidence in you womanliness to champion a minivan as your family's car, instead of a "can't see over the steering wheel giant SUV cause you need the space...your kids and husband will love you for it.

Hey Mom You Should Drive A Minivan; Here’s Why

Article By Tom Voelk
New York Times
Automotive Editor

New York August 31, 2018; Tom Voelk automotive editor of The New York Times wrote that we often shun the ones that can help our lives the most. Maybe out of pride. Perhaps ignorance. Many of us are looking for good solid family material, yet reject prospects that are committed and generous.

I am, of course, talking about minivans. If you want to know more about dating, I suggest the Modern Love column.

But whether you’ve outgrown your youthful dalliances with high-maintenance coupes or you’ve always been a practical-minded hatchback owner who is now ready for true commitment, a minivan might be the ultimate symbol of adulthood. And let me tell you, as a guy who drives nearly 100 different vehicles a year, I’ll testify that minivans are magical for simplifying life.

But minivans are becoming harder to find. Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Nissan and Mazda have all abandoned the segment because of sagging sales. Blame sport utility vehicles and crossovers. Chevrolet alone will have six of them in its stable once the 2019 Blazer hits showrooms. BMW will soon have one more than that, with the X1 through the X7.

Just five minivans are on the market today: the Chrysler Pacifica, the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Honda Odyssey, the Kia Sedona and the Toyota Sienna. And all of them are hip, even if they’re square.
