The F-250 Super Duty has long been a tough and able work truck, and now with the addition of the Tremor Off-Road package it has raised the level of its capacity to also be a weekend warrior for rough and tumble outdoor pursuits.

Our test truck was powered by a third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 - punching out 475 horsepower and 1,050 ft.-lbs. of torque. It passes all that power to an all-new 10-speed heavy-duty TorqShift automatic transmission. The suspension has been modified to include a front-end lift, progressive-rate springs, and custom 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers to control body motion. If you need to do heavy towing , you've got 20,000-21,200 lbs towing power. Payload capability of the truck is 10,000 lbs.

The 35-inch Goodyear maximum traction tires cry out to get off pavement and traverse terra firma in all its forms. The interior is spacious and elegant with leather everywhere, lots of storage, Onyx Argento wood accents, and a soft headliner in Miko® suede.

Add to that Trail Control™, and a special rock-crawl mode, as well as a series of selectable drive modes and you've got real accessible off-road capacities. With 10.4 inches of ground clearance, and close to 3 feet of water fording ability and you can handle many daunting situations.

On the tech side there is automatic sudden break, passer-by identification, and contact alert option. Wi-Fi access for up to 10 devices, wireless charging and USB-C ports, Lane-Keeping Alert, Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking.

As easy as it is to meet the challenges of off-roading, the urban environment can present unique challenges: maneuvering drive-thru fast food places with turns only a Mini Cooper can negotiate without curb scraping, and narrow parking spaces galore although here's the good news - there are seven, yes seven cameras and onscreen alerts that will keep your truck and the surroundings, both human and inanimate, undamaged. Need to park a trailor or boat? Get a load of Ford's Pro Trailer Backup Assist (check out the video below).
