LONDON - January 19, 2021: FirstCar is excited to reveal the winners of the FirstCar Awards 2021: the very best cars, products and services for new drivers.

The FirstCar Awards in association with Quotezone.co.uk were re-imagined this year as a digital-only event with over 38,000 new drivers casting their votes! These rankings, once blended with those from the FirstCar judging panel, helped find our worthy winners. These are showcased in the FirstCar Awards 2021 video which can be viewed here.

The Renault Clio won the coveted New Car of the Year. David Motton, the FirstCar editor and chairman of the judging panel, said: ‘’The Renault Clio is a worthy winner, being one of the safest first cars you can buy. Not only does it score the maximum five stars from the safety gurus at Euro NCAP, every car has autonomous emergency braking. DAB and Bluetooth are standard on all Clio models, and low fuel bills and insurance premiums mean new drivers can run the Clio on a tight budget. It's a first car any new driver would be proud to own."

Vincent Tourette, managing director, Groupe Renault UK, said: “We’re immensely pleased to accept this award and it’s an excellent illustration of how the Clio is the perfect vehicle for drivers who are excitedly setting out on their motoring journey. For over 30 years the Clio has been at the forefront of stylish supermini design and the latest generation epitomises how the model delivers a drive that is as safe as it is engaging, while also providing owners with optimum value and advanced features that are often reserved for more expensive cars.”

The Used Car of the Year title was won by the Hyundai i20 (2015- 20). ‘’It's simple to drive, with a range of frugal engines. The i-20 is also very practical, with good rear-seat space and a big boot by small car standards,’’ commented David Motton. ‘’Most importantly, this is a car you can trust, with strong scores in reliability surveys, solid safety standards, and the reassurance of a five-year warranty.’’
