2020 Residential Energy Consumption Survey Housing Characteristics Data (03/30/2022)
- The 2020 RECS provides household characteristics and energy usage indicators for the estimated 123.5 million homes in the United States in 2020. The first release of 2020 RECS data includes preliminary estimates on the structural and geographic characteristics of homes, types of electronics and appliances used within them, lighting characteristics, demographic characteristics, and household energy insecurity.
Energy Implications of Limiting Interstate Natural Gas Pipelines (03/30/2022)
- EIA presents an alternative case to the Annual Energy Outlook 2022 (AEO2022) that assumes no new interstate natural gas pipelines are built between 2024 and 2050. This Issues in Focus article examines how these limitations to natural gas pipeline capacity affect changes to natural gas production, consumption, prices, and trade at the national and regional levels.
Monthly Energy Review (03/29/2022)
- The Monthly Energy Review is our comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. According to our March 2022 report, preliminary estimates indicate that U.S. total primary energy production equaled 98 quadrillion British thermal units in 2021, the second-highest total on record and a 2% increase from 2020.

- EIA has updated annual state-level estimates of consumption, prices, and expenditures for hydrocarbon gas liquids.
Wholesale Electricity Market Data (03/24/2022)
- This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through March 22, 2022, and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Electric Power Monthly (03/24/2022)
- Data in the March 2022 Electric Power Monthly (EPM) are for January 2022, during which net generation in the United States rose 8.0% from the January 2021 level. Consumption of natural gas for power generation was up 11.5% compared with January 2021. The average residential retail price of electricity was up 8.1% from the January 2021 level.
