A Tough Off-road Truck for Outdoor People

Toyota has been building tough reliable trucks for decades that are as no-nonsense, rugged, and dependable as the folks who buy them. Not only does that continue with the 2023 Tacoma, but your choices can be made from no less than seven trims: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, Limited, TRD Pro, and Trail. That lets you select a trim, or combo of trims that matches the things you do at work and play, and the types of surfaces you ride and/or climb.

The 3.5-liter V6 felt quite capable on and off the pavement. A smooth cruiser around town with a combined 21 miles per gallon, its steering feels solid. Off road its generous clearance and traction handles all the angles needed in fractal surfaces.

The short bed behind the double cab is great for the recreational pursuits, with two good sized lockable storage bins...

...that can store tools, supplies, and sporting equipment. Bed Length is 60.5 in, and bed width is 56.7 in.

Climbing aboard is a bit challenging for under-six footers but by grabbing the oversized handle you can mount the seat. Inside, the front seats are very adjustable and their height gives you terrific views.
