On day one of my week-long evaluation of the 2023 fifth generation Prius, I had people of all ages and types asking if they could take pictures.
It was easy to agree with them because I too found the smooth aerodynamic lines pleasing.
The 2.0-Liter, 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), 150 hp @ 6000 rpm, 139 lb.-ft. @ 4400-5200 rpm. As you'd expect from a, if not the, charter member of the hybrid club, this edition of the Prius adds to its powerplant a noticeable boost in performance and in handling, with energetic nimbleness beneath its quiet, smooth ride.
The 12.3-inch center screen has its audio volume dial on the passenger side of the monitor which makes sense since since the driver has volume control on the steering wheel, and like previous models the settings are quite logical and easy to use.
The front seats are both snug and comfy with plenty of room:
Front Head Room (in.) 38
Front Leg Room (in.) 43.2
Front Shoulder Room (in.) 55.3
Front Hip Room (in.) 54.7
The rear seats are equally comfortable:
Head Room (in.) 36.4
Leg Room (in.) 34.8
Shoulder Room (in.) 52.8
Hip Room (in.) 51.7
The dual sun/moon roof is fun, particularly in forests and UFO-prone areas.
Cargo space all seats up is 20.3 cu.ft.
With rear seats flatten you have 38 cu.ft.
Safety features include:
Brake Assist
Electronic Stability Control
Traction Control
Blind Spot Monitor
Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keeping Assist
With silky smooth good looks and ride, coupled with a killer range of anywhere from 554 to 644 miles, I predict that you will be seeing a lot of these very soon.
