NASCAR Craftsman Truck NAPA AutoCare 200 Preview-- #24, Jack Sprague
28 June 1997
#24 Jack Sprague, Quaker State Chevrolet NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series NAPA AutoCare 200 Advance Nazareth Speedway SPRAGUE'S GOAL: REPEAT LAST YEAR'S PERFORMANCE AT NAZARETH Jack Sprague, driver of the Quaker State 4 X 4 Motor Oil Chevrolet, is favored to repeat last year's performance at Nazareth Speedway and doesn't mind the pressure to win at the one-mile oval. "I feel confident going into this race at Nazareth," said Sprague. "We are trying to establish some consistency. We are showing up at the track each week and doing the best we can. We want to win at Nazareth and gain in the point standings for the 1997 championship." Last year, in the rain-shortened De Vibliss SuperFinish 200, Sprague started from the outside pole and challenged Jimmy Hensley and Ron Hornaday for the lead until he was able to overtake his competitors on lap 112. Sprague held off the competition until the event was halted by NASCAR on lap 152 to take the checkered flag. It was his second victory of the 1996 season. With last year's win, Sprague became a front runner in the Craftsman points race and established himself as a favorite on the longer tracks in the series. The 1-mile oval at Nazareth is the perfect track for the Quaker State team to show their style and strength among the NASCAR Craftsman drivers. Sprague is currently 36 points behind the Craftsman points leader, Rich Bickle who drives the Sears DieHard Chevrolet, with 1449 points after 11 events. By Muhleman Marketing
